The Wizard of Oz cabinet

The starting point, a cabinet with an unusal curve to the back with mirrors either side.  It had previously been "upcycled" rather badly.  Quite an unusual find.  The brief - Wizard of Oz.  My client had recently visited Sphere in Las Vegas to see the Wizard of Oz.  Having picked up a few momentos and needed something special to display them in.  Completely left to my creative design!

With lots of research and a number of restarts with my design, this is how it turned out!  My client did not want to see its progress, but I nailed it!  My client was over the moon, or maybe the rainbow?

There are 3 different areas to the cabinet:
Dorothy's dress - blue and white gingham. This took a number of rolls of masking tape to create, but totally worth the time.
I purchased fabric that came in from the USA that represented the yellow brick road, attached to the centre in the cabinet, a little to top and the bottom so it could be followed.
The green to represent the Emerald city.  A little green ribbon inside to represent the curatns.  Long the edges of the glass, coloured foil to give the rainbow effect.
And of course the red legs which are for the ruby slippers, with a stunning red enamel paint with many sequins glued on.
And to the top, the tornado!  Flipping 'eck Grampy created this fabulous scene.  Finally lights to the inside to help display the wonderful momentos.
